SEAFAC (Sea and Floatplane Annual convention) will take place in Vancouver on 1 & 2 November 2012. This new event will bring together all sectors of the industry to analyse and debate pertinent issues, to share and exchange ideas and establish best practice. Scheduled and business passenger numbers are on the increase worldwide and GA pilots with floatplane ratings are becoming more numerous. If we look beyond Canada, Australia and the US, the emerging nations are now looking at sea and floatplane options. In China and India, for instance, room for airport development in metro areas is not always an option and infrastructure is not necessarily in place. With domestic passenger numbers set to grow from 45 million to 680 million In India alone over the next 15 years, if the floatplane can gain traction, it could offer an attractive and more flexible option to operators and passengers.
